A Game Called Life

Introduction

Rules

The rules are quite simple, my friends. You play to live. Everything goes and everything is possible. Up is down. Down is up. Left is right. Right is wrong. You never know what will happen so you might not want to close your eyes for you never know if you'll be able to open them again. Trust no one, not even yourself. Every man is for himself. Life is but a game we all must play, only this game has no happy endings (or so we're told). Will you accept the journey and start on your quest? Will you let your mind sync with the Game World and become the person you want to be? Fight to the death, as it's what we humans do best. Come one, come none. Let us start this test.

Background

This story is going to be a bit bizarre. It will start on our home planet, Earth, but it will quickly flip to another world - The Game World. Although this world is virtual, it is going to act, feel, smell, and look real. Everything about it will appear real, despite the fact that some of the world's features are not quite possible. There will be levels were gravity doesn't exist from time to time. There will be times where you will have to run on the ceiling. There will also be times were you will have to breath underwater.

As you can see, this virtual world is not a lenient and free as our own world. However, like our world, the Game World does need to take lives. Although it is possible to earn your life back, it has only happened once. Who did just that? Why, it was the same person who won the game! Only one person has mastered the game. One person alone. Who might that be? THE PROBLEM to your life. The mystery person behind all your life's problems.

Inviting you to play the game, THE PROBLEM is, obviously, looking for something. But what the hidden agenda is, is beyond you and me.

Needless to say, you will play the game. You will try to complete the quests. You will try to live. But, sooner or later, you will probably die.* It's just how this story goes. Not every tale gets a happy ending.

*By joining this game, you wavier the right to control your character's destiny. When you receive a DEATH CARD in your inbox, know that your character will need to die before the end of the level. You can control your death to some extent. Only I can revive your character and that can only happen when certain conditions are met. The first character to die will be removed near the end of level three. Join at your own risk.

Characters

There are ONLY eight characters to choose from. They are as follows:
THE SECRETARY: Your character starts receiving flowers and anonymous gifts on her office desk. She doesn't know who is sending them and when she inquires, she is told that they are from a person in a black outfit. Her husband finds out about the gits and becomes rather suspicious. Before she can even come forward about the gifts, her husband goes missing....
THE DOCTOR: At a garage sale, your character buys an antique urn which she thinks will look nice decorating her bookcase. Excited as could be, she clears away a spot to set it. But, just as she gets it in place, she noticed that the urn isn?t empty. Fearing what she might find in there, she panics and buries the urn in the backyard. Days later, she begins to think she?s seeing things....
THE LAWYER: A man elbows your character in a crowd. After he is gone, he discovers his cell phone was snatched. Annoyed, he dials his own number and, to his surprise, someone answers. He explains that he needs his phone as it has some personal information on it, but is met with the dial tone. Rather than ratting the thief out, he decides to take matters into his own hands. The world cannot know his secrets....
THE BUSINESSMAN: At the airport, a stranger offers your character money to carry a mysterious package onto the plane. Uncertain what to do, your character flips a coin and agrees to take the package on one condition -- the payment needs to triple. Agreeing to your terms, you begin to wonder what could possibly be worth that much money....
THE STUDENT: It's your character's first day at a new school. He or she wants to get a fresh start, as in the past, your character was a social outcast. However, when he or she reaches the homework, your character?s eyes land on a familiar face. You thought this person was in the past, but it looks like his character just won?t leave you alone....
THE ACTOR: At a Chinese restaurant, your character opens his fortune cookie and reads the following message: "Your life is in danger. Say nothing to anyone. You must leave the city immediately and never return." Your character ignores the cookie. but, a few days later, finds that there is a target on your back. Someone is out for blood, your blood....
THE NEWS ANCHOR: Your character develops the idea that s/he can hear the voices of the dead on a certain radio channel. S/he decides to take advantage of this channel to find answers to some questions that are bothering her/him about the death of her/his parents. What she/he ends up discovering will change everything....
THE MODEL: Your character gets cosmetic surgery in an attempt to attract the man of her dreams. She worries he only loves her for her looks so she finds some dirt on the man. But, what she finds, is more than she could bargain for....
THE PROBLEM: Someone's out to get your character. That would be this character. [Taken by Xavi]

Once you've selected your character, you MUST reserve it. Reservations will only be held for seven days. During that seven day period, you must submit a finalized character. If you don't finish the character within the time period, the reserve will be dropped. You can reapply for the reservation. Characters are taken on a first come first serve basis.
